5 OCTOBER

What a great day at Newmarket with Oklahoma City winning the Tattersalls Sales Race and Seagull Star looking impressive winning first time in a hot maiden race.

The two year olds have really been impressive with eight runners, three winners and four placed so far.

To date there have been 237 winners of 734 races with prize money of £13,119,157 including 46 stakes winners of 97 stakes races.

4 AUGUST

Primera Vista won his thirteenth race of his career with a narrow victory in Deauville over an extended 9 furlongs in a ladies claimer today.

After Miss Dashwood's win on Saturday it brings the Stud's tally to 25.  Hopefully James Fanshawe can find an opportunity somewhere for her to earn black type.

28 JULY

A Listed win for HIPPY HIPPY SHAKE at York in the Lyric Stakes.  Her acceleration in the home straight was great to see.  A third Stakes winner for Hyperspectra and she is the grand-dam of SHIROCCO STAR.

Lone Warrior is the latest Reprocolor descendent 2 year old to earn black type this year after GOOD OLD BOY LUKEY won the Group 2 Superlative Stakes at Newmarket.

24 JULY

Tiger Webb won over an extended mile at lunchtime today in Jagersro (the Stud's first ever win in Sweden!) bringing it to 22 wins in total for this year

15 JULY

Soho Rocks completed a hat trick of wins over 9 furlongs at Saint Malo today, stepping up in class in a race worth nearly £7,000 to the winner.

1 JULY

Soho Rocks won her second successive race n France yesterday to bring the Stud's tally to 16 for 2013.

In addition, included in the 51 places so far this year,  is Primera Vista's second in Germany yesterday and the first black type with SHIROCCO STAR's third in the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes at The Curragh.

28 MAY

The winners are coming thick and fast with Bronze Beau and Passion Blanche both winning by two  lengths today.  That's four winners from six runners in three days!

Passion Blanche's victory was worth €8,000 to the winner (she had earned €1000 for her debut fifth) and means the 2011 crop is off the mark before the 2010 crop!

2012 Round Up

IZZI TOP is awarded the Prix de Romanet following the subsequent disqualification of Snow Fairy
This rounds of a very good,    nearly fantastic year for Meon Valley Stud

IZZI TOP now has two Group One races to her name, having won the Pretty Polly in July, as well as second in the Gr1 Prix de L’Opera, this follows on from her earlier Group 2 Middleton St and Group 3 Dahlia wins

SHIROCCO STAR’s consistent top quality runs throughout the year including second in two Classics have along with CASPAR NETSCHER’s German 2000 Gns and Greenham St wins together other good performances, have meant that Meon Valley Stud bred horses have run outstandingly at most major European Race meetings this year.

Looking forward to 2013 SHIROCCO STAR will hopefully train on at 4 and will be joined by Miss Dashwood (Dylan Thomas) and Hippy Hippy Shake (Danehill Dancer) both of whom have won two races and hopefully will go on and improve this year

Tuesday 5 February 2013

28 November

Media Hype easily wins the Listed Wildflower Stakes at Kempton on the all weather by 3.5 lengths having also been third in a Group 3 race (Stockhom Cup International) on 3rd September

24 October

Hippy Hippy Shake makes easy work of winning a very competitive Newmarket Fillies
handicap (0-100).  Having been dropped back from 10f to a mile, which should suit her far better,
she will now stay in training next year

20 October

SHIROCCO STAR runs a fantastic race to finish second to the older, fresher, filly Saphire, in the process beating three Oaks winners - Dancing Rain (now 4) - Great Heavens and Was.

SHIROCCO STAR has run consistently well all year, just evading that Number 1 slot!  Second in Oaks Trial, second Epsom Oaks, third in Ribblesdale, second in Irish Oaks, second at Longchamp and second at the end of the season at the Ascot Festival (Qipco Fillies & Mares Stakes)

7 October

Frustratingly IZZI TOP runs second at Longchamp in the Group 1 Prix de L'Opera in very heavy, testing conditions, following overnight rain

IZZI TOP has now been retired to Stud and will visit Oasis Dream, having this year won a Group 3, a Group 2, two Group 1's and a Group 1 second place

6 October

SHIROCCO STAR runs a great race in very soft conditions at Longchamp finishing second, a neck behind the Aga Khan's Dalkala, in the Group 2 Quatar Prix de Rouyallieu

23 August

SHIROCCO STAR finished fourth in The Yorkshire Oaks as the jockey's waiting tactics failed to pay off

19 August

IZZI TOP ran a huge race to finish second to the globetrotting Snow Fairy in the Group 1 Prix de Romanet at Deauville.  Snow Fairy was subsequently disqualified as she was tested positive to
anti-inflamatories

22 July

SHIROCCO STAR ran a fantastic race at the Curragh in the very heavy going Irish Oaks, having hit the front she was just overtaken by a fast wide run by Great Heavens and so had to settle for second again in yet another Classic
